

I don’t know whether it was the routine-disrupting presence of the covid pandemic or (more likely) the crushing weight of completing Jackson’s Wars, but 2021 was a pretty off year for me for producing art. I only completed one drawing, “Cormorant Tree, Monument Channel.” During the summer when I was out on Georgian Bay, I continued to plan a series of “portraits” of various rocks and islets with navaids. I wanted calm conditions, which aren’t easy to find, and managed to produce one study, of Red Rock. With the boat back in the water, I’m hoping to get back at the portraits of rocks and islets. We’ll see how this summer goes.
