Update: “Jackson’s Wars” at the McMichael

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection exhibition based on my book Jackson’s Wars is coming together nicely, and there’s an important update. An October 2024 opening had initially been discussed, but it will now open 29 June and run to January 2025 in conjunction with a major survey of Quebec Impressionism. At last count there will be twenty-five works by Jackson from his formative years leading up to the Group of Seven’s formation in 1920. The show includes some terrific loans from the Beaverbrook Collection at the Canadian War Museum and a number of paintings in private collections I have never seen before, so it will be a treat for me as well.
